What could be major discovery, ancient statue of Lord Buddha and remains of monastery were unearthed in Jajpur District of Odisha. The site of discovery is located at Kesharaipur-Hatikhol village near world famous Lalitgiri Buddhist site.
Lord Buddha statue is made up of Khondolite stone with a height of 3 feet 2 inches and width of 2 feet 1 inch. While monastery’s size is 30 x 30 meters which include 4 rooms of 10 feet x 9 feet each. Experts feel that both statue and monastery belongs to eighth century.
