In the clear guideline by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), mobile telecom operators will not be able to charge any additional charge to its customers of calls / SMS/or any other value added services on “blackout days”. Blackout days referred to festivals such as Diwali, New Year, Holi etc.
As a result, customers need not pay any extra charges for calls made or SMS sent beyond their regular tariff plan during blackout days. Moreover, it is mandatory for Telecom Company to announce such blackout days well in advance for information of the customer.
