Written By Unknown on Wednesday 5 September 2012 | 5.9.12

Indian telecom regulator put a limit of 3 months on mobile connectivity of foreign visitors in India in order to reduce misuse of mobile SIM cards.
As per new guidelines by Department of Telecommunications (DoT), telecom companies must not issue SIM cards to foreign visitors beyond validity of their tourist visa period or three months whichever is lesser.
Also, it would be necessary that foreign visitors should provide proof of address and the address of a local reference to avail new mobile connection.
