Indian Railways took historic step forward in nation building when foundation stone of Mendipathar railway station. This would be first railway station in the state of Meghalaya.
The new Mendipathar railway station would be on Dudhnoi (Assam) - Mendipathar (Meghalaya) broad gauge 19.75km long railway line project. It would cost Rs. 175.43cr and likely to be completed by March 2013.
